Synopsis:
Martin (Espen Skjønberg) had in his youth experienced true love, but his Anna tragically died while giving birth to their first child. Now Martin is an old man, but he still feels responsible for what happened, and wants to make amends, while there is still time. He makes his escape from the retirement home, and starts a long journey. He simply must go back to the little village where it all began. The people around Martin, and the people he meets, of course do not realize what he is going through, and Martin has to suffer a handful of dramatic and somewhat amusing events, before he finally feels that he has paid his dues. Hawthorne has a small part, driving around the Norwegian countryside with his wife, played by Susannah York.
